Overview
Join Nikki Mallalieu for a fun, one-day workshop where you’ll sew your own custom-made sunhat/bucket hat. Designed for confident beginners and beyond, this hands-on class walks you through sizing, choosing fabrics, cutting and stabilising the brim, accurate construction, and professional topstitching and finishing.
Nikki will share practical tips on getting a great fit, shaping a brim and adding details like linings, bands, and decorative stitching so your hat reflects your personal style. By the end of the day, you’ll head home with a fully finished sun hat or bucket hat and a set of skills you can use to make many more.

Materials needed
Please bring your own fabric if you have some; otherwise, we will have short-end surplus fabrics available for you to use. You will need 1 metre of fabric for the outer layer and 1/2 metre for the lining. Fusing will be provided, please bring a reel of thread of you have specific color needs.
Recommended items to bring:
- Scissors
- Pins
- Fabric marking tools
- Any additional personal sewing supplies you prefer to use
