Overview
In this three-week workshop participants will construct a corset using a pre-cut toile while learning the techniques used in professional corsetry. Each session explores different corset structures and finishes drawn from couture, eveningwear, and historical corset making.
The workshop is taught by couture artisan Nasia, who will guide participants through the construction process step by step while sharing her specialist knowledge of corsetry techniques.
What you will learn

Corset Construction Techniques
- Constructing a corset in linen using zip closures and button loops
- Techniques commonly used in eveningwear and bridal garments
Historical Corsetry Methods
- Understanding standalone corsets using busks and metal boning
- Exploring traditional lace-up corset construction
Corsetry for Garment Support
- Introduction to mesh corsetry used as internal garment support
- Techniques used within couture garments and eveningwear
Corset Finishing Techniques
Participants will explore a range of finishing methods including binding, grosgrain ribbon, internal waistbands, cross stitch applications, eyelets for lace-up construction, thread loops, embroidered hook and eye closures, slip stitching, hook and eye tape, and button and loop closures with or without zip.
