This course is designed for all sewing enthusiasts with an understanding of basic techniques who are ready to elevate their craft.

If you have experience with simple sewing projects and would like to refine your skills, this one-day workshop will offer new ways to use your skill to make fabric hats.

It is ideal for those looking to expand their sewing repertoire and tackle more detailed construction techniques with confidence.

Overview

In this one-day workshop, Nikki Mallalieu will teach you how to take a basic tote design and customise it with fabric choices and design details to suit your needs and personality. Along the way, you’ll learn tips and tricks for creating structure, reducing seam bulk and achieving a sharp, professional edge on a fabric bag. We’ll explore ways to construct straps and pockets, hardware and interfacing options, as well as techniques and tools that help make things easier.

The resulting bag will be individual, wearable and durable, and the skills will be transferable to future projects.

This workshop is suitable for adventurous beginners through to experienced sewists who want to refine their techniques, experiment with design, and walk away with a unique, professionally finished bag and a toolkit of skills they can use repeatedly.
