What you learn in the Introduction to CLO3D workshop

The Pattern Making Class runs an Introduction to CLO3D workshop from its studio in North Melbourne, a nine-hour intensive across three sessions, taught by experienced practitioners.

The workshop covers the fundamentals of working in a 3D environment: navigating between 2D and 3D windows, translating flat patterns into digital garments, assembling pieces on a virtual avatar, and applying realistic fabric properties including drape, weight, and texture. Participants also learn how to add notches, seam allowances, and technical annotations, and how to export patterns for print and physical construction.

By the end of the three sessions, participants have a working knowledge of CLO3D and practical experience in digital garment construction, enough to begin applying the software to their own projects.

The workshop is suited to fashion students, working designers, and creatives who want to bridge traditional patternmaking and digital workflows. A basic understanding of patternmaking and garment construction is required.
