The experience

I haven’t stopped raving about Scott and Glen since I first met them. Now I’m doing the same about their bodice class. We were taken step by step through the process of creating a “standard” pattern then shown how to alter it specifically to our own measurements. I was able to follow it and create it during the class as well as replicate it on my own. I have since booked in for more classes.

“ I loved this class, as a self-taught sewer and maker, it was fantastic to learn the foundation skills to draft my own patterns to fit. Glenn and Scott share so many tips and tricks they've learnt over their years working as professional pattern-makers, and that really makes the class so much more useful. They are both wonderful, generous and engaging teachers that made the workshop fun and highly informative. For anyone interested in the hands-on skills of the fashion industry, these guys are a must!”

I've just completed the bodice introduction classes. Scott was my teacher and he was great! Clearly very experienced, he explained things well and gave additional little tid bits along the way which were very helpful. We got straight into things and from the very first class we had practical skills we could immediately apply. I have already enrolled to do the advanced bodice classes and look forward to also doing skirt, pant etc soon after. The classes are small and friendly and the premises of the classes is really cool. Thank you Scott for all your help so far, looking forward to my next round of classes.

The Pattern Making Class is housed in a professional pattern studio in the historic DOCKLAND COTTONMILLS close to the Maribyrnong river in Footscray. When we are not teaching, we are busy making patterns for our clients.

The industrial warehouse space will afford you plenty of space to draft and cut out your patterns. We keep class sizes small so everyone gets attention and has room to be creative.

You will be learning in an established business environment, affording you the opportunity to see how it all works.

We will provide you with key essentials such as large drafting tables, industry quality large scale pattern making paper and cardboard blocks relevant to the course you choose. The specific block(s) used in each course are for you to take home.

Getting to the Cottonmills

Note: We are located on the 2nd floor so please be mindful that there are stairs and we do not have a lift.

There is plenty of street parking available next to the COTTONMILLS, it is very inexpensive and is free after 6pm weeknights and 12pm weekends. We are a casual 10-minute stroll from FOOTSCRAY railway station which is a multi-platform station linking many rail lines. There are also many bus routes that run very close to the COTTONMILLS.
